I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this wedding and loved this couple. Syba and Shawn live out of state and were looking for a full time planner to help design and plan their dream San Diego destination wedding. While on our first call, we immediately clicked and bonded over the elegant wedding vision and our love for Jesus. I could tell this couple was special. Over the year of planning, we were in constant communication making sure every detail was in place. We wanted to make sure we embraced their beautiful culture while giving it a San Diego, coastal flare. 180 of their friends and family flew out to San Diego to celebrate their weekend of love. Every event was filled with love, excitement and graciousness. The festivities began with a Mehndi party and followed with a rehearsal dinner at the Catamaran Resort in Mission Bay.
The wedding day was finally here and the anticipation was high. The bride stepped into her first outfit of the day. Amy, our photographer, beautifully captured these moments.
The ceremony took place at St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown San Diego. The bride and groom decided to do a first touch instead of a first look. During their first touch they said a prayer and exchanged their wedding day excitement. It was a special and intimate moment.
Surrounded by their loved ones, the ceremony began. They incorporated family tradition as well as personalized details to make the ceremony their own. I just love the architecture in St. Joseph Cathedral.. it’s stunning!
After the ceremony, the wedding party headed over to Sunset Cliffs to take some stunning photos. How good do they look!? The ladies wore a light pink saree with gold accents and the gentlemen slayed in their classic black tuxedos. This was such a fun group.
A moment for the bride, please. Our bride, Syba, was glowing and I could not get enough of her glamorous dress. Our florist did an impeccable job on her bouquet and it was the perfect wedding day accessory.
After taking a few newlywed portraits at Sunset Cliffs, the bride and groom headed back to the Catamaran Resort to take a few more. I adore the contrast of the tropical green palms and bright shining ocean.
As our newlyweds finished up their portraits at the Catamaran Resort, their guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the bay. There were pretty flowers scattered on each cocktail table and plenty of cocktails to go around. The guests enjoyed the fabulous July San Diego weather and tasty passed hors D’oeuvres.
I had such a fun time designing this wedding with Syba and Shawn. Our florist, The Little Fleur Co., ran with our ideas and did an incredible job on each centerpiece. We did a mix of long and round tables for our guests and we went with a fun head table for the large wedding party. We chose a white dance floor to add some glamour and draped the walls without windows to give the room an upscale look.
The reception started off with a grand entrance from the family, wedding party and of course, our couple. The party had officially started and we could feel the excitement in the room!
To kick off reception, the bride and groom did their first dance. It was filled with special moments, laughs and twirls. They had a blast.
After dinner was served, Syba changed into her second outfit of the night. They did a small milk ceremony with their mothers. This is an Indian Christian wedding tradition where the mothers of the couple present them with milk to symbolize blessings and nourishment.
It was then time to cut the cake! This wedding was filled with different traditions and events and it was so fun to experience. I could tell the guests and couple were truly enjoying every moment.
The the night didn’t stop there! The events continued with the wedding party performing a 13 minute long dance. The bride and groom even joined in! This was the absolute best way to start the dancing portion on the night. This was also Syba’s third and final outfit of the evening. I think it has to be my favorite. I adore the color and she looked incredible!
