La Venta Inn is a truly remarkable wedding venue nestled in Palos Verdes. Built back in the summer of 1923, La Venta Inn holds the title of being the very first building on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Originally known as “Clubhouse 764,” it was designed by the architect brothers Pierpont and Walter Swindell Davis in a cool Spanish villa style. Fast forward to today, and Palos Verdes Estates has become one of the most beautiful residential communities globally, with La Venta Inn as its pioneer. It’s a simple piece of history that still stands, adding a touch of classic vibes to the neighborhood.
When J & D shared their dream of a ceremony with a view, we had a plethora of options to explore in Southern California. From fancy hotels to picturesque golf courses, the choices were abundant. However, La Venta Inn held a unique charm that resonated with our couple. The couple and their wedding party started the day getting ready at Terranea Resort, just a few miles away from the wedding venue. What made La Venta Inn truly special was its occasional resident peacocks, adding a whimsical touch that the bride couldn’t resist incorporating into small details of the day, like the stationery.
The couple’s first look took place at Terranea Resort, surrounded by the gorgeous greenery that the hotel had to offer. It was a quiet and special moment that set the tone for the fast-paced day ahead, creating a simple yet perfect start to their celebration.
After the first look, the wedding party gathered to capture some memorable photos. I always suggest getting most of the photos done before the ceremony, so couples can fully soak in their wedding day and join their guests for cocktail hour. It’s a chance for couples to savor the moment and appreciate their photos without feeling rushed.
The romantic portraits of the couple unfolded at the stunning La Venta Inn. This venue boasts an array of picturesque spots for capturing beautiful moments. With blooming florals, lush greenery, and the mesmerizing backdrop of the ocean, the options were abundant, ensuring that every photo turned out just right.
The ceremony stands out as my favorite part of the day, and it’s not hard to see why – just take a moment to appreciate that breathtaking view and the stunning array of florals! The combination of the awe-inspiring backdrop and the carefully curated blooms created a truly magical atmosphere. The exchange of vows against such a picturesque setting added an extra layer of emotion and significance to an already unforgettable occasion.
After the beautiful ceremony, everyone gathered for a delightful cocktail hour that featured tasty appetizers and cocktails. Adding a personal touch, the couple’s three pets found their way onto our bar menu, adding a fun and endearing element to the celebration. With the perfect weather, the cocktail hour unfolded outdoors, creating a laid-back and enjoyable atmosphere. The addition of cocktail tables scattered around the area added to the warmth and welcoming vibe of the gathering.
The reception unfolded seamlessly, with a charming blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. The arrangement featured a mix of round and long tables, each adorned with uniquely designed centerpieces, all reflecting a timeless green and white aesthetic. Surrounded by windows, the venue provided everyone with a stunning view of the outdoor landscape and the picturesque peninsula, creating an inviting and visually enchanting atmosphere for all.
Our couple made a stellar choice by opting for a live band, and it truly lived up to expectations! As the party vibes kicked in, both guests and the couple were eager to dive into the celebration. The ballroom at La Venta Inn, complete with a cozy fireplace, was transformed into a magical space by our talented florist, who adorned it with whimsical greenery and candles. To kick off the dancing and mark special moments, cold sparklers lit up the night. Amidst cake cutting and sipping drinks, everyone reveled in the joyous atmosphere, truly immersing themselves in the festivities around them.
